Self-Portrait, oils, 12"x12"

This is the first painted self-portrait I've done in many years. I sat in front of the mirror for two hours, and this is what I got. (Smiling, no less!) It has some problems, but I tried not to overwork it. One shot is all, alla prima, that's the deal.

This is a very good portrait- painted boldly and with real skill. Looks just like you!

You know, it is great to see that you have chosen to do this painting now, so many milemarkers we are going through, I am glad you captured a solid dynamic likeness in two hours. I often think about doing a self portrait and think I don't have enough time. I don't paint as fast as you. Kudos. I love the color and the presence due to primavera context.

Thanks. I did a self-portrait because the model poses as long as I want her to, doesn't complain, likes the same music I do, and doesn't charge anything.
